PAIGE GRIFFITH-CARMICHAEL

Tell us about yourself, who are you and what do you do?

I’m Paige and for the past 10 years I’ve lived between Sydney and London working for global fashion brands. Recently I’ve taken time out from corporate life to figure out what I really want to do. I’m sadly too short to move to Paris and become a Can-can dancer at the Moulin Rouge, so instead I’m currently focused on creating honest, relatable content over on @paigecarmichael.

How would you describe your style?

Relaxed, classic and a little bit lazy! I like pieces that go together easily and I simply will not wear anything that doesn’t make me feel good or isn’t comfortable.

What are your most worn wardrobe items?

PJ style sets! Post lockdown I found myself adding more and more pyjama style sets to my wardrobe. For me they tick all the boxes - stylish, comfortable and quick to pull together. You can really elevate a set with accessories like gold hoop earring, a statement bag and of course a great pair of sunglasses.

Who are your celebrity style icons?

Hmmm. To be honest I’m not big into celebrity culture. I love following people and small brands with more attainable style, that’s what inspires me. I love following British influencers and tastemakers as London is always ahead of the trends.

If you could pack 5 items for an overnight stay, what would you include?

  1. A PJ style set (self explanatory really)
  2. A travel sized La Roche Posay cleanser (I have troubled skin so I feel like it’s the only thing that keeps it in check)
  3. A hydrating sheet mask
  4. A couple of pairs of big, comfy undies. Despite having worked in the lingerie industry for a really long time, I will not compromise on my big comfy cotton undies. Much to my partners dismay haha
  5. A pack of Fishermens Friends mints - Although I travel alot, I still get anxious so these have always helped to calm my nerves

When it comes to eyewear, what’s your favourite eyewear shape and why?

As I have a rounder face (something that I hated when I was younger but now I love it), I tend to opt for rectangle or cat eye shaped sunglasses.

Do you have a  favourite Locello style and why?

It’s hard to pick a favourite but If I had to choose one it would be Little Letica in Milky Tortoiseshell. I love everything brown at the moment but even as that trend fades I think tortoiseshell is so classic and I love the little gold accents in this style as well. They also have 100% UV protection and Polarised lens so they are perfect to wear at a rooftop bar while enjoying a cocktail over the warmer months.

How do you style your sunnies?

Sunglasses can make or break an outfit. I always like to match my sunglasses to my bag or another element of my outfit. I never really understood the importance of sunglasses when completing a look until I was older. They really help tie everything together.

What's your favourite affordable fashion piece?

As I spend most of my money on travel and hotels (a guilty pleasure since I was really little - my favourite thing to do on my Birthday was to travel to the closest city with my parents and stay at a nice hotel), I love to save when it comes to fashion (I don’t have a choice really!). I’m a sucker for a high street bargain or shopping for hidden treasures in my old neighbourhood of Notting Hill. I’m currently loving handmade quilted jackets, I get such a thrill when I find them at the markets and for a relatively low price they can easily transform a simple pair of denim jeans.

What other Aussie fashion brands should we be buying this season?

Aussie fashion brands are some of the best in the world. Whenever I’m in London, Brits are always gushing about how great our small brands are. What we lack in our high street offering, Australia makes up for in home grown designer labels like Alemais and Palm Noosa. I’m certainly not an authority on fashion but I’m an advocate for wearing whatever makes you feel your best. My rule of thumb is to ook for pieces that make your heart skip a beat, don’t buy it straight away,  but if you find yourself thinking about a week or so later you know you’ve found the one!
